Lung biopsy done

Wasn't the worst biopsy i've had to endure with a local and minor sedation however its all feeling a bit stiff and sore now, and i'll be watching the royal wedding from the comfort of my pj's and bed.

Test results should take a week. It appears that there has been some progression ie more and larger spots of 'whatever' it is, making biopsy easier.

Thankfully it was pointed out that fungal infections will also show up on a PET scan, as GT and I would have had a heart attack on the spot seeing lungs full of 'hot spots'. Apparently PETs show up any activity ,,,

Next appointment with Dr Will is Monday 9th @ 11 to see what the results all mean.

Tests to do ,,,,

Friday 29th April is a lung biopsy - doesn't sound like much fun, but oh well.

Wednesday 4th May is another PET scan.

Fingers crossed the lung biopsy shows a fungal infection and the PET scan has NO hot spots!

First day of term 2, and I'm feeling a little "yippee" at the moment.

ANZAC day 2011

We celebrated ANZAC day at Bexley RSL club today with Glenn's grandfather (91 yrs) and the Thompson family.

Poppy Rose was born 25.04.2010 - happy first birthday!

Farewell to Colin Shrubb, who passed away today. While you had your own cancer battle to fight, you didn't die of cancer, and we are shocked to have to say goodbye so soon.  We know you and Shrubbie are having a "beer" together in heaven tonight. It's been a short five months - no doubt.  God bless you both.

Test results in ,,,

Bone marrow OK

Blood OK

CT scan - still shows lump in abdomen, "slightly smaller" than last CT scan in September 2010, scan also showed  "nodules" on lungs.  These are new, and could be lympyhoma but Dr Will feels it is more likely a fungal infection. The nodules will need to be biopsied and treated either way ,,,,,, biopsy will probably occur early May.

PET scan has been brought forward to first week of May, to see if there are any "hot" spots (cancer cells) remaining.

The Thomo family are taking off for a week to spend some time at the beach, to relax and get out of the house.  Back next Friday for the Easter weekend, then back into "getting tests" mode.

I can't believe that on 22 May it will be 12 months since my diagnosis, and I'm still punching away.

TGIF

Yesterday felt like the majority of the 'haze' I've been feeling has gone. Not feeling too bad at all, school holidays are here!

Got a couple of tests to do at RNSH on Tuesday, so plan to have some valuable and quality family time this weekend.
