Some changes

I had the blood and platelet transfusion, and have an appointment tomorrow to have a PICC line inserted so I can finish the chemo cycle. My veins have had it, so the PICC line stays in the arm for now.

Meeting with Dr Will @ 11. We shall see what comes of that.

None-the-wiser

So GT and I weren't the only one's wondering what the PET scan actually meant.  Finally spoke to Dr Will late this afternoon, and his comment "its not bad but its not good either".  What the?

We'll talk in more depth on Friday.  Waiting is a real pain in the butt.

Still, I have chemo to look forward to tomorrow (not), and will probably get myself a platelet and another blood transfusion for my troubles, as my bloods have not picked up.  I'm amazed I'm still vertical - with two kids at home sick and no immune system ,,,,,,, someone's looking after me.

Relaxing into the evening

Surprised I'm vertical as my bloods have hit rock bottom, probably the only thing that's keeping me upright is haemagloban, because I had a blood transfusion last week.  Hoping the neutrophils will start coming up soon ,,,,,, early to bed tonight.  PET scan tomorrow at 9am.

Ah, midday and still in PJs

Feeling a little flat as bloods continue to drop, however I have all the right "anti's" to keep me mostly well.

GT has taken the girls to thier cousin's birthday party and I'm at home relaxing - the silence is golden!

Home and over it ,,,,

Walked in the house, kids on 'melt down' mode (OH great!) - and I know how they feel!  Jessica is in her second last week of term and looks like a walking zombie - she's exhausted.

Bloods crashed today, so I'm back on all the fun "anti's" for the next week or so to try and 'not get sick'.  Therefore I  have cancelled all social activities for the weekend to stay quiet and well for the PET scan on Tuesday.

Some mental and physial preparation will also need to be done for Tuesday.  Its a really weird feeling waiting for the PET scan, not to sound too dramatic - but its like the 'end of the world'.  We can't move past Tuesday without knowing what the results are ,,,,, its a bizarre and highly anxiety creating state.

But - holding focus and off to help Jessica finish her news for the week - mummies jobs are never done! Life is real when kids are involved.

Nearly finished

Chemo has been an all day event, including blood transfusion (which takes forever). Tired, but feeling on the front foot for recovery in the coming week.

PET Scan booked for Tuesday 28th June - 9am

Got on the phone today and got the date - I was sick of hearing myself whinging about not knowing when it was going to happen!

Chemo tomorrow

Dr appointments Friday

Family and friend visits on the weekend and Monday

Then off to RPA for the next installment of the PET scan saga - who knows what it will bring, I don't even want to guess - just gonna hold my line and stay focused on the little blessings between now and then.

Saturday morning relaxing and feeling tops

Friday was a great day, visited Dr Will and can expect to do another PET scan in the coming weeks to see where were are at.  I'm feeling tops!  No nausea, no tiredness, and feeling semi-human.

Glenn and I went to the Green and Gold Ball - hosted by St Patricks Catholic Primary School and enjoyed a night of good food, great company and a live band that kept most of the 150 guests on the dance floor.  Thanks to mum and John for baby sitting my lovely kids, and taking care of them this morning so we could have a sleep in.

Juice Bar - 2nd cycle started today

All went well today, once the proper protocol of drugs was sorted out, which means I'm hoping to have many less side effects this round.  I'm feeling really upbeat and positive at the moment and not nearly as wiped out has I have been after the previous cycle of treatment.

My neutrophils are in the normal range - for once in a long time! That may explain some of the extra energy I've had lately plus I'm on high dose dexamethasone (steriod) which gives me a little kick.  Fingers crossed this cycle is better than the last ie no hospital admissions and minimal side effects.

Off to see Dr Will tomorrow morning to discuss when the next CT Scan or PET scan will be scheduled - to see what really is going on inside. Further treatment decisions will be made from those results.

Home safely

Relaxed and home, what a fantastic weekend.  Thanks to you Deb, a perfect travelling companion!  Glenn and the girls survived my weekend away, and had a great time down the coast with GT's dad at his on-site caravan.  We're all pleased to be home.

Dinner with friends

When in Melbourne, dinner on Lygon St has to be done! Thanks to my two gorgeous friends Deb and Liana for a great evening.

Weekend in Melbourne

What a fantastic weekend we've had so far. The weather has been amazing, and good karma has followed us everywhere! The Tutankhamun exhibition was great, and i'm pleased I made the effort. We then visited St Patrick's Cathedral for 11am mass. Then off to Harbourtown Deb and I have had a very relaxing time shopping and spending quality time together. Back at the ranch, watching the new - not sure if the Chillian volcanic ash will affect out flight home tomorrow ,,,,

Feeling fine and v excited

I have managed to stay out of hospital this week (yipee!) and have been focused on staying well BECAUSE, I'm off to Melbourne tomorrow for 2 nights to go see the Tutenkhamun exhibition with my gorgeous friend Deb.

Also feeling a bit nervous "leaving the nest", its been a while since I've done anything more than travel to RNSH.  Leaving the family is also a bit scarry ,,,,, but it'll all be fine and I'm sure I'll have a great time.

In hospital again,,,

Had chemo yesterday, and went home to rest. Woke up late arvo, freezing, with the shivers and a temp of 38.2. Back off to RNS emergency, however when you are neutropenic, things move very fast! I was in 'home ward' 12D by midnight.

And today, After waging an all-day campaign to go home ,,,, lovely Dr Will gave me the nod!

Hi-ho, Hi-ho, its home again I go!
